Dental Health Package
Helping Pets Achieve Better Dental Health

Dental disease is one of the most common health problems affecting dogs and cats, with most pets showing signs of dental disease by the age of three.

Unfortunately, many pets continue eating and behaving normally despite having painful dental disease. By the time bad breath, loose teeth, or difficulty eating become obvious, significant disease may already be present.

Our Dental Health Package is designed to make professional dental care more accessible while helping owners better understand their pet's dental health and future treatment needs.
Why Dental Health Matters
Dental disease doesn't just affect your pet's mouth.

Untreated dental disease can lead to:

Pain and discomfort
Bad breath
Gum inflammation and infection
Tooth root disease
Tooth loss
Difficulty chewing and eating
Reduced quality of life

Many dental problems develop below the gumline and cannot be seen during a routine examination.

That's why a professional dental assessment under anaesthetic, combined with dental X-rays, is considered the gold standard for assessing your pet's oral health.
What's Included?
Our Dental Health Package includes:

✓ General anaesthetic
✓ Comprehensive oral examination
✓ Full mouth dental X-rays
✓ Professional scale and polish
✓ Dental charting and grading
✓ Personalised dental treatment plan and recommendations

This allows our veterinary team to thoroughly assess your pet's teeth and gums, identify hidden disease, and provide you with a clear understanding of any future treatment that may be required.

Why Are Dental X-Rays Important?
Over 60% of a tooth sits below the gumline.

Without dental X-rays, many serious dental conditions can be missed, including:

Tooth root infections
Bone loss around teeth
Fractured tooth roots
Resorptive lesions (common in cats)
Retained roots
Hidden areas of advanced disease

Dental X-rays allow us to identify these problems early and develop the most appropriate treatment plan for your pet.
What If My Pet Needs Extractions?
This package is designed as a dental assessment, X-ray, scale, and polish procedure.
Tooth extractions are not included in the package price.

If our examination identifies teeth requiring removal, we will provide a detailed treatment plan and estimate for the recommended treatment.

This allows owners to:
Understand exactly what treatment is needed
Plan and budget for future dental surgery if required
Make informed decisions about their pet's care

In some cases, if a very simple extraction is identified during the procedure, your veterinarian may contact you on the day to discuss available options.
Who Is This Package Suitable For?
This package may be ideal for pets who:

Have bad breath
Have visible tartar build-up
Have red or inflamed gums
Have never had a professional dental clean
Have early or moderate dental disease
Are due for preventive dental care
Need a thorough dental assessment and treatment plan

It is also a great option for owners who would like a better understanding of their pet's dental health before committing to more extensive dental treatment.
The Benefits of Early Intervention
Many dental problems become more complex, painful, and expensive to treat as they progress.

By identifying concerns earlier, we can often:
Improve your pet's comfort
Slow the progression of dental disease
Develop a staged treatment plan when required
Help owners make informed decisions about future care

Prevention and early intervention are often the most effective ways to maintain your pet's dental health.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my pet have a general anaesthetic?
Yes.
A general anaesthetic is required to safely perform a thorough oral examination, dental X-rays, and professional scale and polish.

Does the package include tooth extractions?
No.
The package includes the assessment, dental X-rays, scale, and polish only. If extractions are required, we will provide a treatment plan and estimate.

Why can't extractions be included?
Until dental X-rays and a full examination are performed, it is impossible to accurately determine how many teeth may require extraction or how complex those extractions may be.

How long will the procedure take?
Most patients will be admitted for the day. Our team will provide specific admission and discharge times when your booking is confirmed.

Does my pet need an examination before booking?
To ensure your pet is healthy enough to undergo a general anaesthetic, we may require a veterinary examination before scheduling the procedure.

If we have not seen your pet before, or if it has been more than 6 months since their last examination with us, a consultation with one of our veterinarians will be required either the morning of the procedure or prior to booking the Dental Health Package.
