Dr Renae Carmody
BVSc (Hons) BSc (Hons) Practice Manager and Veterinarian

Dr Renae has been the Practice Manager at Northside Vet Care since 2007.  She graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with First Class Honours in 2003 and has also completed a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours, majoring in Marine Biology. Over the past 14 years, Renae has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in both small animal medicine and surgery. Renae strives to continue her education and enjoys acquiring new skills and knowledge to help our four legged friends. When not at work, Renae enjoys spending her spare time with her family and friends, especially in the outdoors camping or at the beach. Renae shares her home with her husband, two children, George (a Maltese X Shihtzu), Punky the cockatiel and two turtles, Leonardo and Donatello.

Dr Kayo Kuroda
BVSc Veterinarian

Dr Kayo graduated from the University of Queensland in 2006, working in small animal practice in Beenleigh for 2 years before joining us at Northside Vet Care in 2009. Kayo has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in feline medicine, completing further post graduate education in feline medicine through Sydney University in 2013. Kayo continues to pursue her ambitions in small animal dentistry and further develop her skills in advanced dentistry and oral surgery, training under the guidance of a specialist veterinary dentist. She is currently studying for Membership exams in Small Animal Dentistry and hopes to become a specialist in the field herself one day. In her spare time, Kayo enjoys travelling and spending time with her partner and two very cheeky feline friends called April and Jordie.

Dr Fleur Martin
BVSc Veterinarian

Dr Fleur is our Clinical Director and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003. After 3 years in small animal practice in Melbourne and Country Victoria, Fleur moved to Darwin to work for four years. Fleur loves to travel and has spent time in India volunteering with Vets Beyond Borders in 2008, and hopes to do more of this in the future. Fleur then moved back to her hometown and joined the team at Northside Vet Care in 2013. While Fleur loves all aspects of general veterinary practice, her main interests are small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Fleur is focused on continuing education and enjoys keeping current with the latest advances. Recently she has been on expanding her small animal emergency medicine skills. In her spare time, Fleur enjoys hiking and pottery. She also loves spending time with her cat name Hairy Mary and her friends and family.

Dr Kristie Clarke
BVSc (hons) MANZCVS, Veterinarian

Dr Kristie graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (hons) in 2007 and started her career in mixed practice in Melbourne. Kristie gained vast experience in both small and large animal practice whilst traveling around Australia, even spending a month volunteering as a vet in Nepal. In 2010 Kristie undertook an internship at Goulburn Valley Equine hospital then spent time in racetrack practice in Perth and attained her MANZCVS in Surgery of Horses. Since coming home to Brisbane she worked at the University of Queensland’s Dayboro Vet Clinic teaching final year veterinary students, then decided to continue her career with companion animals and expanded her skills in this field working as a locum vet at multiple small animal clinics. Kristie came to Northside to support us whilst Dr Renae went onto Maternity leave and has stayed with us as a permanent vet. Her particular interests are small animal dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and emergencies. When she’s not looking after your furry friends Kristie enjoys spending time with her husband, young daughter and their dog Rosie.

 

Stephanie
Head Veterinary Nurse

Stephanie is our Head Vet Nurse and inventory manager. Steph has been part of the Northside team since 2004. She has a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and enjoys all facets of veterinary nursing and management. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys being outdoors, especially at the beach, with her husband, twin girls and friends. Stephanie is also the proud mother of a Cocker Spaniel named Mikey.

Rose
BSc V.N. Veterinary Nurse

Rose joined the team in January 2008 and is a friendly and familiar face around the clinic.

Rose loves learning and has completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology and Ecology, as well as a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Her talents in veterinary nursing are numerous but her particular passion lies in surgical nursing and has extensive skills nursing for more advanced surgical procedures. Critical patients also benefit from Rose’s care as she also enjoys nursing intensive medical cases that need a little extra TLC. 

Rose came to Australia from New Zealand and now Brisbane is her home. She loves spending time with her husband, two children, an ex-racing greyhound called Kaiser and her Galah name Marty.

Jenna
Veterinary Nurse

Jenna has been with us since the beginning of 2013. Jenna has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and loves acquiring new knowledge relating to our furry friends. She is currently undertaking further study in dog behaviour. Jenna also regularly undertakes instructing puppy pre-school classes.

A multi-skilled vet nurse, Jenna is particularly knowledgeable and passionate about clinical nutrition and will tailor a personal nutrition plan to your pet for any dietary requirements your pet may have. She also enjoys the fast pace of nursing emergency cases, and will happily invest her time intensively caring for our critical patients.

Ella is Jenna’s beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who you may see around the clinic from time to time.

Melissa
Veterinary Nurse

 

Melissa started her vet nursing career in a very large practice in Rockhampton in 2010. She joined the team at Northside Vet Care in 2013 after moving south to call Brisbane home, and obtained her Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing qualification in 2014. Melissa’s favourite things about being a vet nurse include surgical nursing and patient care.Our hospitalised patients benefit from the time and meticulous attention to detail Melissa gives to their medical care and rehabilitation.

In addition to nursing, Melissa is the client communication ambassador for our clinic and takes charge of the creative displays you will see throughout the reception. She is a familiar face to those who have attended the puppy pre-school classes she regularly runs.

Melissa has a very active and beautiful Staffy called Lana whom she enjoys taking on camping adventures with the family.

Kate
Veterinary Nurse

Kate joined us at Northside in 2015 and she is both veterinary nurse and dental ambassador for our clinic.

Kate has completed a Bachelor of Applied Science with a major in Ecology, and her aim is to eventually become a vet.

She loves all facets of being a Vet Nurse but has a particular passion for birds and pocket pets such as guinea pigs and rats. Most recently Kate undertook further training at the Unusual Pets, Exotics and Avian Combined Conference. Kate has a wealth of knowledge on the husbandry of small critters and she is always happy to chat about caring for them.

She also has menagerie of her own animals at home to keep her busy, including a golden retriever, a laborador and a greyhound, as well as three cockatiels and two guinea pigs!

Michele
Veterinary Nurse

Michele joined the team as a veterinary nurse in early 2016, bringing with her a variety of experience from other business sectors and a focus on top quality customer service. She has proudly completed her Certificate IV qualification in Veterinary Nursing.

General dentistry and oral hygiene care are particular interests of Michele’s. Michele will work with you to tailor a dental care plan to suit your pet’s particular needs throughout every stage of their life.

A variety of pets are lucky to be part of Michele’s family, including a golden Labrador named Willow and three cats called Kitty Puss, Izzy Sparkles, and Maisie. Mickey the bird and Bruce Gilis the fish complete the pet clan.

 

Andrea
Veterinary Nurse

Andrea is a experienced vet nurse who is studying to eventually to become a Vet. Andrea has one cat that gives her lots of love and joy. In her spare time she sings in a band with her brother.

Leisha – Our Pet Stylist
Groomer

Leisha joined us in late 2014 and is our personal patient stylist. She is able to do cats and dogs.  Leisha was taught by a Master Groomer in Sydney. She has numerous pets of her own including a Cavalier King Charles.
